Jazz pianist Marcus Roberts will perform songs from his new album “Celebrating Christmas” live in the studio. On the album, Roberts is joined by Rodney Jordan on bass and his longtime drummer Jason Marsalis, and together they weave familiar holiday melodies into the layered rhythms, tones and textures of traditional jazz.

Why should Christmas music, or any style of music for that matter, only be permitted after Thanksgiving - especially when it's so beautifully performed? What's next? Sorry, no Miles before sundown. Bill Evans: Springtime only, pal. Just think if we applied these inane rules to art and literature...Michelangelo's masterpieces viewable only on Sundays from noon to 4:00pm? War and Peace: January and February?
this is great music, does anyone really care, that it's bringing "x-mas tunes" to our ears too early? is that what you all get out of marcus roberts, really? talk about missing the forrest for the trees....sheeesh..
this was way too short. great pianist, great interview, but too short. thanks
Thoroughly agreed with Tom and Theresa: it's deplorable that WNYC has joined the rush to extend the Christmas consumption season before Thanksgiving. Enough is enough.
Just so that you and your producers know: I find anything connected to Christmas BEFORE Thanksgiving to be offensive...and I have turned off the radio.
I like the music, but I hate, hate, hate being subjected to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. Let's not rush the holidays.
