Feo Aladag discusses writing, producing, and directing the film “When We Leave.” It’s a complex portrait of a family in crisis, and tells the story of a woman struggling to free herself from an abusive relationship. “When We Leave” opens January 28 at Angelika Film Center.

I have a German friend who was born in Turkey in the 50s - Germany and Turkey were allies against Russia under the ottoman Empire. (1914 alliance) - she is a descendant of a member of the Habsburg court.
