global warming is not going to destroy the planet or even wipe out humans. Millions (maybe billions) might die but humans will adjust. Stick to the facts otherwise the crazies on the right will twist your words to "prove" that oil is only a blessing.

I've wondered if the earlier mass extinctions might've set the stage for the evolution of large mammals--including humans! Does that mean the likelihood of intelligent life elsewhere is lower, if its development depends on such rare events & specific timing?
If a large object landed in the ocean, would it cause a tsunami?
