Let's be fair to Frank Deford!! Deford states that paid athletes should exist in only the big sports in SOME schools.

Colleges would support the "big sports" (usu. football, mens and womens basketball) out of the alumni organization NOT the general sports and athletics fund. Thus, there would be no Title IX impact.

I went to Rutgers and would much rather see the football team (esp. its coach!) paid out of alumni coffers rather than the state's allocation to the University. It also might bring my sport, fencing, back to campus so I could go see some matches.

It ought to bring men's swimming and diving, men's crew and men's tennis back on campus, too. A state university and Division One school that has no opportunities for their student-athletes to pursue higher competition AND stay in their home state is an insult.

I love the nomenclature for this campaign, "On the Line." I run The People's Own Organic Power Project (http://www.thePOOPproject.org), an organization that uses art, performance and humor to break through the cultural shame around a natural bodily function. This taboo extends to the entire posterior region, and contributes to the shyness many feel about going to the doctor for a prostate check. I'm glad this campaign utilizes familiar sports language to create a positive relationship with our nether regions.

Since they're here to "discuss college basketball," and not men's basketball, I'd love to hear their takes on the possibility of a Maya Moore (UConn)/Brittney Griner (Baylor) rematch in the NCAA finals.
