Michela Wongs sounds to echo the official Eritrean government,tired, excuses of blaming the world for everything that went and goes wrong in Eritrea.
the dictatorial regime of Isaias Afewerki has never internilized or owned up the wrong intrernational and internal policy that implemented. the main cuprit of the dismal state of Eritrea is not UN or the neighbouring countries . the enemy is with in.
What hurts the most is when writes like Michela Wongs serve as appologists to the status quo.
What a total misinformation. I am an Eritrean living in the USA. I have brothers, uncles and cousins who are imprisoned for NO reason. The country is in total misery (food, water, etc. in shortage), armed soldier on the streets of the capital city, Asmara.
Eritrea is a total mess. Its misplaced pride is its own undoing. To paint a picture of a self-sufficient country that doesn't not need (or even require -- having said no famine in Eritrea) Western help is a total misinformation.
Disappointed. Really, I love WNYC and its programming (Radiolab in particular) but to have such an unbalanced reporting is disappointing.
