On Monday, the Environmental Protection Agency named Newtown Creek, the polluted industrial waterway that runs between Brooklyn and Queens, a Superfund site. How did the Gowanus Canal get gonorrhea? I didn't know that gonorrhea bacteria could live outside the human body...
My question here: Did Mayor Bloomberg try to torpedo Superfund status for Newtown Creek the way he did for the Gowanus Canal?
