Why do you give this man air time? He has ZERO CREDIBILITY and giving him air time is an insult to my WNYC membership.

If I had the power and the resources? I would single-handed provide rehabilitation and redemption for Mr. Spitzer because he still has so much to offer from New York and all of the United States... I really hope that his public career is not over.

I have been following his re-engagement with public issues from Slate Magazine to television such as Fareed Zakaria GPS etc and now on our very own New York institution, WNYC!

Why are some ever willing to decimate valuable persons such as Mr. Spitzer?

Mr. Spitzer saw the Wall Street/Financial Markets debacles/quagmires ahead of all of America... at least, ten year ahead!

I hope that Mr. Spitzer returns to WNYC and to public service for public good, our common good!

Who am I to judge Mr. Spitzer's moral slip? I am myself imperfect!

well put, DAT--except that sex outside of one's relationship is not the private domain of movers and shakers. it's as common as marriage itself.

but i agree that the loss is ours vis a vis the state of the state. people may not have agreed with spitzer's tactics, so long after the fact, but it may have challenged albany to curb its own inability to keep from ingratiating themselves first.

Eliot Spitzer joins the ranks of American
Movers and Shakers, who have sexual relationships outside of their marriage.
Such as: JFK, LBJ, Eisenhower,Clinton,
RFK, MLK, just to name a few.

Frankly, their personal life, should be their
personal business, between themselves

I think NYS lost the most dynamic,
intelligent, articulate, incredible governor,
when Eliot Spitzer was kicked out for
doing what most men do.

i really don't care about his preferences in the bedroom, and they have nothing to do with what he is here to discuss. prostitution exists for reasons mature people can and should discuss--it also escapes any effective legal framework. ask yourself why that is. it doesn't exist for the rich and powerful alone.

We're now listening to him talk about the loose regulation and deregulation that he fought as Attorney Gen., which policies can be partly named as one of the causes the Great Recession and nearly led to a second Great Depression.

I think people like John who care more about peccadilloes of out-of-power politicians who don't make policy want to change the subject so that he and other like-minded (right-wing, neoliberal) have to face NO regulations whatsoever so the wealthy powers-that-be continue to dominate average people's lives.

it's not for any of us to insist on atonement on mr. spitzer's part--the fall from his mantle and all that entails is certainly something to endure, and when any of you is without sin, cast the first stone.

and if you don't think he was brought down by the very industry he was going after, then you don't understand how much leverage corporations (in this case, banks and wall street) have over government action. need you more evidence to accept that?

that said, i am always happy to hear what mr. spitzer has to say. put aside your personal hangups and listen as a citizen. spitzer's attempts to shed light on what so many think is murky and impossible to solve is a fine way for him to serve his fellow citizens in a meaningful way. i thank him for his vigilence.

I'm disappointed that WNYC is giving this man a platform. After his despicable behavior--which needs no elaboration from me or anyone else--he should be forgotten. It's tough to hear his voice and not think about what he did to his family and the public he was serving.

The FCIC hearings to date have been a waste of time. The commishes aren't up to the job. The banksters walked all over them.

The only good so far was when a witness knew what s/he was talking about and was not afraid to outloud it. Two examples: the ex-Bear Sterns guy who told them they were bust if home prices levelled, and they ignored him. The other was the TX AG who told them how the federal regulators, esp the OCC, took power away from the state regulators for the specific purpose of not enforcing regulations.

After wanting to see AIG's emails with the Fed, can we also see the Spitzer's emails relating to AIG to judge how he gin up his charges and abused his power in office.

Spitzer had no foresight as he's trying to represent but merely was preparing his political future on the back of great company.

And that is quite sad. Mr. Spitzer deserves our gratitude and our thunderous applause and gratitude for his vision.

Mr. Spitzer saw AIG and others, long before the rest of the world did!

Mr. Elliot Spitzer, the former Governor and former Attorney General for the state of New York, was a brilliant politician with all the savvy anyone could ask of him.

He is, in my view, a public official with extraordinary foresight. He is a public policy juggernaut.

He is a visionary. He saw corporate frauds in America from 10,000 miles away!

He literarily saw that the economic meltdown which we are now enmeshed, years before it was foisted upon all of us. He saw it coming and told us, of the danger of corporate wrongdoings.

I dont care about Jon Edwards, Spitzer, Chris Rock, Tiger Woods and their PERSONAL lives. The ONLY time this has been relevant in the political aspect is that of Strom Thurman who ran as a segregationist presidential candidate all the while being the father(of at least one black child)...additionally the woman who bore that child was 16 years old at the time she had it(making Thurman a statutory child rapist as well). Len, ask Mr Spitzer if he is still admitted to practice law. He was the sherif of wall street and went after escourt services and wall street corruption. All of this while he broke the law. As a Lawyer myself, I would like to know how he would have handled me doing the same criminal acts he did, and if I would still have my license, i seriously doubt it.

Please ask the governor is he is in rehab for sex addiction or for deception addiction. Ask him if, when he was having risky sex with his prostitutes, did he think he could have been bringing deadly diseases back to his wife. Ask him if he used state money to pay for his whores. Ask him why should anyone believe his pontifications on any subject. And finally, ask yourself, WNYC, why you think it is okay to perpetrate the practice of "failing upwards" by giving a stamp of approval to disgraced, discredited, ethics breakers and/or law breakers by having them as guests on your programme.
