I rarely miss a Walken performance and I SO enjoyed this! It was just wonderful to hear that not only do Christopher Walken and Lydia Bastianich and her mother know each other, but grew up together! It is really touching to hear Lydia say that Christopher's parents ran a first class bakery and what great people they were. I also loved the Jack O'Brien interview. The comment about everyone thinking that they can "direct" is very long overdue. Real substance here with this guest host and the fabulous people he interviewed this week!
I was late for my appointment because I stayed in my car to hear the end of this vivid segment. The "good old days" is this time not a cliché.
A very natural thus enjoyable show. The pace and subject matter were superb.
Christopher Walken was terrific. Great show -- all segments. Please bring him back.
It was a beautiful interview. Memories are so precious. This conversation had the spontaneity and ease that many American shows lack.
Chris needs a show of his own or a regular guest host slot...
PLEASE!
This show was FANTASTIC!!! Chris discussing the old days in Astoria with Lidia and Erminia was absolutely touching.
I must admit, I'm not even a huge fan of Lidia but this interview was fascinating and very touching.
Bravo Chris for putting this interview together!!!! It brought a tear to my eye!!!
BRILLIANT!
THANK YOU ALL THREE!!!
I never wanted this to end. More Walken!
Wow - this took me back - Walkens Bakery was a highlight of growing up in Astoria. What a delightful interview.
Please bring Chris back, the show was simply great. His genuineness shown through.
Wonderful show. Chris is a very human interviewer and I appreciate this. Stories about Lidia and Chris growing up in Astoria were fascinating.
So true, Chris' comment that Lidia's recipes are more accessible than those of most TV chefs.
Finally, a LL host that isn't condescending to his guests.
What a great show, and what a great guest host!
Ugh - why does Brian have to be rude? Lenny had the brilliant idea to invite Chris, in the midst of a great interview. The result was classic radio. A shame that one poster doesn't get it, but wonderful that everyone else does.
I found the whole show delightful. What a treat. I had to tell a client I had to call them back so that I could finish listening to this last piece. Such great images they brought up.
"Now That's Entertainment!"
Bravo.
Amazing that two of the most talented people in America were working in the same bakery in Astoria as kids.
Great show. Please do this again.
Just delightful. Warm, funny, so smart. Great guests--great host. Thanks for this terrific idea.
I'm loving Chris Walken as guest host!
So I thought I'd just do the 2 hours of work I needed to do between noon & 2pm today and sorta listen to Christopher Walken try to do LL's job. The joke's on me. Cldn't do anything but listen as CW tore his way through a super interesting 2 hours. Blown Away!!!!!!
Delightful reminiscence of New York neighborhood life. Thanks all.
Faaaaaaaaaantastic.
Fire Lenny, Hire Chris.
Such a pleasure to listen to the conversations unfold this afternoon. When I started my journalism career, Mr. Walken was, very fortunately, one of my very first interview subjects. His complete lack of pretense is always wonderful. It was generous to hear him share such intimate stories and friendships and I hope he will guest host again.
Mr. Walken thank you. You are a fabulous genuine host.
Bravo
I haven't been able get any work done since noon. Such a great idea Lenny had, asking Chris to host! And wonderful for Mr Walken to say yes. Brilliant radio - so interesting and entertaining. Terrific guests, too. This last segment is a delight.
Love Christopher as a guest. Loving this segment. Would love to hear him on again.
Loved listening to Mr. Walken today interview a great cross-section of talented artists......how grand to be able to interview childhood and family friends, Lidia & her Mom....I love watching her cook and have all her books...I always give them away at Bridal Showers! Tutti a tavola !!!
My girlfriend's family is from Astoria, too. Her grandma would walk the kids together with Mrs. Walken. To this day she still talks about how surprised she is that Chris "got into the pictures"; it was her brother, she said, who was "the handsome one."
This is a wonderful show -- Chris Walken is just a tremendously humane interviewer. As great as Leonard is, I'd love it if Christopher Walken got a show of his own!
Love Christopher as a guest. Loving this segment. Would love to hear him on again.
I've lived in Astoria for the last 10 years and my parents are immigrants from the area around Pula, Istria, so I am loving this segment!
Thanks Chris and Lydia!
Chris is the best guest host ever! Please
have him on more often - especially about
theater, but not exclusively.
Thanks.
Great show...
Great guests..
Thank you Mr. Walken!
