Listening today ( 8 July 2010 ) after revisiting 'Local Hero' ~ Director Bill Forsyth's gentle humanity creates a resonance everyone hears internally... almost in silence.. perhaps unknowingly we understand a curious recognition of our own yearning, longing.
At that age? Leonard, correction, girls/women are ALWAYS ahead of boys/men!
Local Hero is my favorite movie of all time. I had the good fortune to see it again at the 25th(?) anniversary showing at the Tribeca Y where Peter Riegert appeared. While your memeory can often make things seem better than they were this movie held up to my high expectations.
Is it true that Gregory's Girl was re-looped for American audiences? (Because the accents were too thick for us?)
Yes, we need more of MR. Forsyth's movies available on disk. I haven't seen 'Housekeeping' since it was in the theaters. 'Comfort and Joy' should be seen by more people as well.
'Local Hero' is perhaps my favorite movie.
Hi, Leonard--
Thanks so much for having Bill Forsyth on your show. Could you please ask Bill if there's any possibility that COMFORT AND JOY will be available on DVD in the U.S. anytime soon?
I love "local hero". It holds up over time and repeated viewings. Hope there's a new one soon.
Is Housekeeping coming out on DVD any time soon? It's my favourite, favourite film.
