Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright tells how Saddam Hussein’s poet-in-residence inspired her to make diplomatic statements in her meetings with world leaders. Her book Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box is part memoir, part social history, and looks at Secretary Albright's experience with global politics.
An exhibition of Madeleine Albright's jewlery, "Read My Pins: The Madeleine Albright Collection," is on view today through January 31, 2010, at the Museum of Arts and Design, 2 Columbus Circle.

Leonard,
Great questions as always, however I wish you had brought up Afganistan issue with comparison to Vietnam much earlier. She stated Vietnam as such an exception and could not touch on why. She mentioned Iraqi matter but almost none for Afganistan maintaining pro-Obama perspective.
She may not be the person to ask these kinds of intrieguing questions. She is now a retired diplomat being between in a People magazine and writing this fancy memoir.
Silly Lenny! Everyone knows that Obama wears suits from HartMarx i.e. Hart Schaffner and Marx. (Excuse spelling errors.)
(The Chicago clothing co. that recently declared bankruptcy.)
Is there a story where this silliness actually leads to something more than or Mrs. Albright's smug satisfaction or someone's 'comment'?
This is so frivolous and insulting to the hard work and change that diplomats all over the world are trying to affect.
Please ask Secretary Albright why people for the most
part don't wear pins anymore.
Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?"
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it."
This woman is responsible for the death of thousands of Iraqi children during her tenure when vital medicines were embargoed.
She is a criminal. She should be charged with crimes against humanity.
Big YAWWWWWWWN
What an inane topic. Is Albright now publishing a new memoir every few years? I will remember not to read either her pins or her book.
Too bad her pins couldn't stop the genocide in Rwanda. Give me a break with this nonsense.
