U.S. Aid to Pakistan

Monday, October 26, 2009

Last week, the United States tripled non-military aid to Pakistan. But some in Pakistan see the new aid package as a direct threat to their sovereignty. Blake Hounshell, managing editor of Foreign Policy, explains what drove the United States' decision and how the $7.5 billion will be spent over the next five years.

How much of this aide will be given to institutions that are under the control of the military or ex-military in Pakistan?

Isn't there an extremely large military industrial complex in Pakistan?

From what I understand the military has its own private enterprises which generates funds that go beyond what the government allocates to them? They even have taken over argicultural land. In fact, the Generals are some of the largest land owners in the country.
