A New Cuban Revolution?
Monday, March 09, 2009
Fidel Castro's Communist revolution in Cuba is now 50 years old. Though Fidel has ceded power to his younger brother Raul, there is a clear separation between the old guard and most of Cuba's younger generation. Peter Eisner is a senior correspondent for PBS's WORLDFOCUS; he joins us to discuss the three-part series, "Cuba: The Second Revolution?" which looks at how life has changed for most Cubans and what the prospects are for improved relations between the island nation and the United States.

To Mike:Avo Morales Colombia? Hey you aer so mixed up in your "assessment" of Latin America that you cant get your leaders names and countries straight . You need to educate your self before you form an opinion. Especially when you seem to know NOTHING about the area that you are so opinionated about.
EVO Morales is the Indigenous president of BOLIVIA, the FIRST one in a country where he Aymara indians make up 80% of the population and have not had control of their own destiny for 500 years. The Incas were the original socialists and as Native people on this continent , we do not need YOU to tell us how to organize our society. Get your self educated a bit go read "Indian Country Today " on the web.
The embargo is as ridiculous as the hysteria that provoked it. Hysteria that is raising agin'...
Is Cuba developing "green" technology? Solar panels, wind, biodiesel.
Cuba is often criticized as an example of the "failures" of socialism, can any one point out any OTHER free market economy in the Caribbean that can match Cuba's accomplishments?>
More attention needs to be made to the failure and human tragedy that the free market world has wrought in Haiti for example. Compared to the other islands Cuba seems to be amazing.
Mike your a moron.
Bush almost turned us into Fascist Italy but you were probably one of the poeple that had no problem with that.
Obama is using the government to try and help the country for once. Not destroy it the way Bush tried too.
Corporations failed the American people in every way and you still worry about the government using its power to help you with your own tax dollars. You would rather we help the corporations?? Wake up and be a real American.
Will Obama's America turn into Castros Cuba? Although there have been benefits to socialism in Cuba, people would have been benefited from moderation.
My fear is that Obama with his descamisados will turn us into one of these South American marxists states like Juan Peron's argentina, Avo Morales Columbia and of course Hugo in Venezuala.
