Well, Daniel, I know what you mean, but they're actors--you gotta give 'em a little slack. The segment did get me interested in the play.
That said, "Most Annoying Guests" is a wonderful idea for a Lopate show!
Please let Justin know it's great to have him back on stage and wondering if he is still playing music.
These guests should win the "Most Annoying Guests on the Leonard Lopate Show / 2009."
Loved the play, and loved the cast and their chemistry.
I would agree that the role of the understudy is a thankless job in the theater, however to call it the "most thankless job in theater" is inaccurate to say the least. I would say that the thousands of technical directors, carpenters, painters, master electricians, props artisans, stichers, drapers, milliners, wigs people, stage managers, and stage hands in this country would beg to differ with that notion. The general public night have some romantic notion about the struggling young actor who is "always the bridesmaid but never the bride", but our job, if done right, is unnoticed and unappreciated by the general public.
