In The Blue Tattoo: The Life of Olive Oatman Mifflin seeks to correct the myths about Oatman, her assimilation into the tribe, and her reintroduction to mainstream society.

what happened to her ultimately? Did she rejoin her family/mormons or go elsewhere?
How is it different or the same when Native People are placed in White society?
Is this the story that the John Ford film "The Searchers" was based on?
