Melanie Gideon's memoir The Slippery Year is an exuberant meditation on life at middle age, when thing haven’t turned out as you might have expected. It chronicles a year in which Gideon confronts the fantasies of her fading youth as well and the realities of life with a husband, child, and dog.

I'm from Maine and Massachusetts and I can say not true New Englander would write a book about themselves and their feelings (unless it somehow involved a pet or baseball team). Are you sure you're not from Connecticut--the fake NE State?
I think the topic that is being discussed exemplifies exactly what I am going through today. Life for me is all very nice, sometimes very good, but there has to be more. I am looking forward to reading your book, The Slippery Year. Thank you.
