Morandi at the Met

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Italian artist Giorgio Morandi was born in Bologna in 1890 and hardly ever left his hometown throughout his life. A new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum, "Giorgio Morandi, 1890-1964," features works he created for his close friends and most discerning collectors. Renato Miracco is guest curator and director of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

I was so glad to hear this segment. I visited the Met and saw the show but did not really appreciate the complexity of this artist's work. Hearing the program has inspired me to revisit the show.
