Jean-Luc Godard was one of the most important filmmakers of the 20th century, and was a leader of the French New Wave. I love the way Godard has managed to make films that are playful and serious, personal and political. He's my favorite filmmaker and I had the good luck to run into him twice in NYC, totally by accident! I have a picture of one of those meetings in my facebook photo album. If you'd like to see it, ask to be my facebook friend!
J' adore le cinema de jean Luc Godard! I have attended each of the Godard films projected so far at Film Forum and will continue through the month of May.
“I pity the French Cinema because it has no money. I pity the American Cinema because it has no ideas.”

"What is your greatest ambition in life?"
-- To become immortal... and then die. "
Norman Mailer said that Godard was the "third worst person he had ever met." Insight into this and the casting of Mailer in King Lear would be interesting.
Jumpcuts - because the producers thought that the films were too long. Gutsy. Also no one as ever been better with primary colors.
