Sorensen has been doing a bit of speech-writing for Obama as well. He was an early Obama supporter and made the JFK comparison. Sorensen should know.
Please tell Mr. Sorenson that every time I hear his speeches I wonder what ever happened to subsequent politicians. I hear a bit of Kennedy in Obama, and listen to both of these men's speeches as works of art.
The President knew what he was doing, Ted. I have full faith and confidence in you as well. I love hearing you talk.
Check out wikipedia on the subject of Ich bin ein Berliner. According to them, it really wasn't a faux pas, among other reasons, because jelly donuts aren't called Berliners in Berlin. Though they are in much of the rest of Germany.
