The Reverend Sun Myung Moon claims to be the Messiah. We take a look into his vast business and media empires, and whether his influence in Washington and abroad is something to be concerned about. John Gorenfeld’s new book is Bad Moon Rising.
We have had enough of white presidents. So, let's this time elect a president from the Negro race. What will you do if I say so? There's no question there. We must never forget that we are brothers and sisters in a huge human family. In any level of community, we must become like a family. Even in the Israelite nation, there were Negro people. God has mixed whites, yellow, and blacks all over the world, but especially in the United States. If you go to Israel, you will see many black people there, and you would perhaps ask them, "Are you an Israelite, too?" And he would say "Yes." Maybe in his ancestry, one of the Israelites married an African Negro. I don't know, but they are Israelites by lineage. Most of the people in Israel have black hair, but I very often found blonde hair. Then I would ask them, "Are you an Israelite, too?" And he would say "Yes." I imagine that in his ancestral line, one Israelite woman married a white man. Still, he's an Israelite.

With regard to CG's comment, I would ask, how is it that Moon followers are members of the UB admin and/or staff if the Moon organization does not own or control it? Isn't Neil Salonen the President? He is the former President of the Unification Church.
The notion that the Moon organization is not funding it is absurd, unless you think that UB is self sufficient. Just because the money comes through a Moon front organization, such as Professors World Peace Academy or the like, does not diminsh the fact that the money comes from Moon. And where does Moon get his money? Mostly from the backs of suffering Japanese UC members who are forced to work long hours for little pay, or from little old Japanese ladies who are told that if they give up their life savings to Moon then their ancestors will be more happy in the spirit world.
Here, let me leave you with an actual Moon quote: "All the irrelevant books in the world should be burned away. I cannot tolerate books that belong under the leftist ideology. Do you understand?" SMM 3/27/07

As a professor at UB for over 2 years now I must say I am amazed at the outdated misinformation and dysinformation posted on this site. Rev Moon and his organization have never owned UB. They made financial contributions through the lean times during the 80s and 90s, but haven't put up a dime in a number of years. While there may be members of his church in admin, faculty and staff, there are many more from other religions, and no one here really cares. They have a few seats on the Board of Trustees but have no voting block...our acrediting agencies see to that!

This story astounded me. Why is the fact that Moon exercises such influence on the right wing not on the front page of every newspaper and the lead story of every newscast? Furthermore how do right wing Christian politicians square their taking money from someone who admittedly is undermining their traditional Christian beliefs and the beliefs of their constituency? It seems they would be run out of office if they knew this!

I hate to disillusion Jon P., but the Moon apparatus is very much in control at the University of Bridgeport, where I used to teach before the Moon takeover. Neil Salonen, a long-time Unificationist and close associate of Rev. Moon, is the president. Moreover, the Bridgeport International Academy, (formerly the New Eden Academy), a prep school on the UB campus operated by long-time "Moonie" couple, the Spurgins, is the feeder sohool to the university. Many of the techers and lecturers at both institutions are also Moon adherents. I called the academy this morning and asked if the school taught the Rev. Moon's theology and the receptionist said, "Yes".

Whoever said the moonies no longer own the University of Bridgeport is wrong. It is still theirs - Moon said years ago they must control universities to gain influence in America and so they could license professional people. I can’t think of a moonie leader who does not now carry a title of "Dr.". His wife demands she be called “Dr.” even though it is just some title given her by Moon's fronts.
He actually is not a "Rev" as he is self ordained. The Presbyterians kicked him out long ago.

What will be interesting to see in the coming years is the shift that the moonies will make to accomodate themselves to the fact of Chinese communist power in Asia. Just as Ultra Right politicians in Singapore are currently becoming more and more a mouthpiece for Beijing, just as Orwell predicted in Animal Farm ... look to see the Moon faction align themselves with the Comunist part of China once the North korean issues are resolved.

Moon was an instrument and probably still is a tool of ultra conservative Korean politicians and (at that time's ) attempts to control US politics and maintain that particular power base in Korea's influence on The USA. A lot of this influence came to light during the Koreagate scandal in the 80's. As such this political hidden power is a direct result of US intervention in Korean political politics in the 50's.
