Sounds uncool
Except to old folks who are gloating,
Seniors rule!
One of the great hallmarks of the Marshall plan was that it helped create a European middle class and provided a European alternative to communism even though there were European communist parties.
Is there anything like this for the Arab and Muslim world, where the US can reward good governance with development aide and where the countries who are our allied can develop a Muslim/Arab alternative to fundamentalism? An alternative that does not make them look like American puppets/stooges?
Shouldn't good governance be the goal which can be judged by the development of a middle class and a string economy rather than an emphasis on democracy and women's rights?
