The Lopate Show is hosting a 3-Ingredient Challenge! Think of three ingredients, and challenge New York chef and 3-ingredient expert Rozanne Gold and Leonard to brainstorm creative dishes you can make at home using just those three ingredients. Your three ingredients can be any combination that inspires you, and you don’t need to include the basics like salt, pepper, cooking oil & butter, and sugar.
Name your three ingredients for the challenge. Also: do you have any favorite recipes that use only three ingredients?

About 2 years ago I attended an award dinner with my wife(a culinary wiz in her own right)for my friend Chris Maher at Beard's Townhouse in the Village in NYC.
Chris a chef and actor residing in Taos,N.M.delivered a fabulous fete and the company was great.Kicker was that I was hesitant in attending because of my busy schedule!
Sure gald we went.Remember James Beard on TV in sixties.A forerunner to all cooking shows.
Ruth Reichl didn't know what to do with beet greens - does anybody? - I've asked the ghost of Jim Beard and he asked Craig Claiborne and said "Jimmy ad bacon." Oh yeah, I know the show is over but how about beet greens, celeric (celery root) and lambs tongue? Hell add a braise of fava beens and some red wine for a Met concert in the Park concert & I'll Get Dr. Hannibal Lecter to "BEHAVE."
Mozzarella, tomatoes, basil
basil, olive oil, fresh mozarella
spam, government issue block cheese, cod liver oil
I find that raw celery has a strong, unpleasant flavor and tends to burn the mouth like pinapple. I was astonished to learn that most people find it bland. The only other person that I've found that agrees with me is my brother. Genetics?
What are the top favorite three produce picks at a typical Farmers' Market?
You mentioned that some people do not like cilantro because of an enzime that affects some people by making Cilantro taste like soap.
Is there anything about celery - specially it's raw smell that may revolt certain people - in particular, it's somewhat of a strong smell that makes your stomach turn - though I can eat it fine in soup ONCE it's cooked
sardines, cow's liver, tofu
Hey don't knock the "big green" avocados. They are delicious and I prefer them to the Haas. In Puerto Rico, where I'm from, the avocados are very nutty and creamy. I eat them just as is, with a little extra virgin oil, lime or lemon juicee, and some salt.
beets, carrots, broccoli
Ok, ok, I'll swap the mint jelly for peaches.
Is there any good use for mint jelly? It just tastes like toothpaste to me.

Oh, Joanna, my tastes exactly! Did you know that it's pretty common to smear peanut butter in the curve of a celery stalk? Ugh. Nasty.
when i'm motivated, i cook lentils. when i'm lazy, i eat peanut butter. when i'm out, i eat pasta.

Did I hear right? Did Leonard really just say "ungepatchke"? I love this show.
Canned smoked sardines packed in olive oil, panko, and frozen peas

Hanger steak, nopales and mint jelly?
I make rice with onions and sliced whole lemons (plus salt and oil).

1. Pork Brisket (trimmed from below the pork ribs)
2. Lingonberry Jam
3. Celery Root.
Just got back from a vacation and my roommate ate all of my groceries. What can I make with capers, oatmeal packets, and seltzer?
strawberries, heavy cream & eggs
Eggs, potatoes, garam masala...
something involving jicama and/or daikon radish, cilantro, and fish
I've got some cream cheese (fromage frais) in my fridge I need to use. I've also got quite a few scallions. And there's always rice in the house...
tomatillo salsa
tomatillos, garlic and chipotle pepper.
I coat the tomtillos and garlic in oil and roast. blend with a chipotle pepper and salt, & pepper. can add lemon, epazote and cilantro but it's fine without them too.
Sundried Tomato Polenta, melted mozzarella cheese, with Francesco Rinaldi's (hot & spicy) "Diavolo" sauce.
Using up 3 kinds of lunch meats? Roasted turkey slices, bologna, and ham slices?
Something that will pack a protein punch for vegetarians like me from eggs, tempeh and hummus.
Dried shredded coconut, molasses, dried figs. I'm pregnant, I've have been craving all three.
pink grapefruit, cilantro, ginger...a few of my favorite things. Something besides a salsa?
Pistachios, soba noodles, kombu.
Canned salmon, rice noodles, and coconut milk. I have all 3 sitting in my pantry unused.
