Former Time and Newsweek correspondent Malcolm MacPherson looked at the invasion of Iraq and saw it for a farce. His satirical novel Hocus Potus is filled with thinly-veiled portrayals of American officials and plenty of insider details gleaned while reporting on the war.

To Graham and his cohorts in criticism, I'd like to suggest that you read the book before you open the mouth. You will say you don't need to; but you will still have no credibility. You're the lout uncle at the dinner table.
TO Doug Ensley's comment, I say, Hear! Hear!
This guy refers to his sort of guide being a "pirate"; well, he isn't the only pirate involved here!
Am I the only one who finds this guy a genuine disgusting creep?
Mr. MacPherson, you are among the Americans who richly deserve misgovernment as Cheney, Rove and Bush have done it. You're very much like the worst in the worst of your characters you're describing.
Glad I heard this interview. I grasped more about Iraq and the war there before you ever thought of going there. And you're an ex-Marine? Here's a clue: there's nothing funny about the war in Iraq, and it isn't a fit topic for satire.
Perhaps you'd get that if your life, your family and everything you cared about were cruelly destroyed and someone made a satire out of it.
Stop this pointless rehash.
Even now given a choice BUSH v GORE about half of americans would vote for Bush.
we deserved everythig we got.
Again I hear of one more person who has made a buck from this war. How many journalist, prior service members, etc. have there been who just had to write a book about what they saw or did. Do they really what to "expose" what is going on or are they just another sponge? Boy this war has been a real money maker ;)
