Brooke Hutchinson, Program Director of CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education), and Lydia Wilbard tell us how securing quality educations for girls in sub-Saharan Africa can reduce poverty and the spread of HIV/AIDS. Lydia Wilbard grew up in a small village in rural Tanzania. When she was ten, her mother died, and she had to help care for her male cousins. As a result, she often missed school. Now, she’s studying to become a nurse, and she works with CAMFED in Tanzania to help make sure girls get the education she struggled for while growing up.
