Postcolonial Peacekeeping

« previous episode | next episode »

Monday, November 29, 2004

Kimberly Zisk Marten draws parallels between current international peacekeeping efforts and past imperial interests, and argues that there are valuable security lessons to be learned from the world’s colonial past in Enforcing the Peace. Next, Nomi Prins gives us her inside perspective on what she calls the "corporate mugging of America." Using the insight she gained from holding senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, and Chase Manhattan Bank, she offers a behind the scenes look at the relationship between Wall Street and Washington in Other People's Money. Then, Robert Mads Anderson, the first person in the world to scale the highest peak on each of the earth's seven continents, joins us to discuss his adventures. Finally, writer and director Robert Stone recaptures the early 1970s and the atmosphere in which the Symbionese Liberation Army thrived in his new film: Guerrilla: The Taking of Patty Hearst.
