Ever wonder where our water comes from? In this week’s Please Explain feature, we’ll take a look at the inner workings of New York City’s water system. Al Appleton—former Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection and Director of the New York City Water and Sewer system (1990 -1993)— explains the intricacies of our water infrastructure. He’s joined by Gerard Koeppel, author of Water for Gotham, who offers some historical perspective on the city’s water supply since the mid 1800's.
