James Trager has compiled an exhaustive chronicle of New
York City history from the explorer Giovanni Da Verrazano
in 1524 to the closing of Ratner’s Deli on the Lower East
Side in 2002. It’s called The New York Chronology: The Ultimate Compendium of
Events, People, and Anecdotes from the Dutch to the
Present.
