Robert Bresson was one of the most influential filmmakers in cinematic history – so why is he still relatively unknown in the English-speaking world? Maybe that’s changing - Bresson’s 1966 film “Au Hasard Balthazar” is playing at the Film Forum starting October 17, and he’s the subject of a new book by Joseph Cuneen, Robert Bresson: A Spiritual Style in Film.
