David Gunn

Monday, December 29, 2003

Without a lot of hard work and federal funding, train travel might not have a future in the U.S. – Amtrak President and CEO David Gunn explains what needs to be done to keep America’s trains on track. Gunn directs America’s intercity passenger rail system, each day serving on average 65,000 passengers on 265 trains through 22,000 miles of track. Mr. Gunn knows trains: prior to joining Amtrak, he served as Chief General Manager of the Toronto Transit Commission. From 1984 to 1990, Mr. Gunn was President of the New York City Transit Authority, and from 1979 through 1984, he was General Manager and COO of SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority).
