Grace Paley died at the age of 84 on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007. She captured the lives of everyday women in a series of spare, short stories with pitch-perfect dialogue. They have been collected in three volumes. The native New Yorker spent most of her life in Greenwich Village before moving to Vermont. Leonard Lopate spoke with her on April 12, 1995.
