Helen Masten (?), of the Children's Room of the 42nd St Library, talks about activities at the libraries and ways mothers and children can spend time together there. People for parents to consult with about books for their children. Exhibitions at the library. Mrs. Masten talks about a visit from Austrian refugee children and work done to promote reading overseas.
At 03:05, program is interrupted to announce the news that Washington is expecting Japan's surrender reply during the day. Press Secretary says: "It looks as if we're at last nearing the end of our long vigil."
