This week, Alec sits down with Patti LuPone – who has 26 Broadway credits and two Tonys, one for "Evita" and one for "Gypsy." LuPone is known for her opinions; she’s passionate. “I love what I do,” LuPone tells Alec, “I love the audience, and I love the fact that I get to do it. ... I love our craft very, very, much, and it’s a noble craft.”
And Patti LuPone has perseverance. As she recounts to Alec, on the opening night of "Evita," she had the flu and threw up in the sink. More than 20 years later, LuPone finished her last day of radiation for breast cancer treatment and went straight to rehearsal for "Sweeney Todd" at the New York Philharmonic. “We have a responsibility,” says LuPone. The audience has “come to see me, … they know that I know they’re there, and … when an actor acknowledges the audience, then you can have a moment of ecstasy."

How is pretending to be other people and seeking adoration and applause a "noble craft"? Narcissism.
What a WONDERFUL interview. Patti Lupone is and always will be Broadway to me. Thank you Alec, this was a joy to listen to.
Loved you in Sweeney Todd. You can tell when a person loves their craft.
A nice, interruption-free interview. A little kiss-assy ("You're BREATHTAKING"), but then, this is part of the charm. Looking forward to Brian Williams.
Bravo Patti, Bravo Alec
