Alec- This show keeps getting better. Your guest selection is incredible and a reflection of your diverse interests in compelling topics. Honestly, Renee Fleming and Joseph Stiglitz in the same month? Your interview skills are superb (Who knew?). I think when you insert yourself less into the interview (it's about your guest, right?) the richer the listening experience. The show with the Mehtas was pitch perfect. I've sent a link to the show to a kazillion people. One minor request - how about a new photo of you on the home page. One that reflects both your intellect and warmth.

What a perfect program from two very wonderful and classy gentlemen. I could listen to them both speak for hours and I truly enjoyed Alec's playfulness when Osbourne was regaling his hard to be believed life experiences. I desperately want to hear more with the two of them and it honestly brightened my day. I am hooked Mr. Baldwin, you're perfect for this and I hope you are LOVING it!!

My curiosity got me and I downloaded several podcasts to see what you were doing. I've worked on Broadway, in Opera, Television, yada yada....Finally, I have an intelligent podcast to listen to on the A train that isn't full of people trying to sell me crapola or screaming about how terrible the world is! I don't care if they don't put you on the radio, but you HAVE to continue leaving this door ajar to a world of what YOU find interesting! I'm hooked, I feel I know more about the real human behind the icons of my generation. Thank you Mr. B, I'm now a fan.

Alec is a great interviewer as he is supremely curious. I'm hoping he goes to the next level by interviewing a person he may not agree with philosophically or politically. Perhaps Newt Gingrich as he is intellectually "deep". It would be great radio IMHO...

Love the podcasts, they take me back to when I was 14 hearing radio shows. One uses there mind to follow the podcast and with tv one only uses eyes. Podcast are alive and tv seems to be dead or at least not alive.

I love all the podcasts it makes the work day so much faster the variety of the people you interview is perfect. This one is my favorite so far I love watching him on TCM. It was great to hear him talk as much as he wanted about the legends. I would love to hear an interview with Mr. Tony Bennett,Betty White, Tony Blair. Thanks for real entertainment!

Great stuff..

The interview is good, but despite what he say in my opinion the person who would be like Drew Barrymore is Robert Osborne who does 99% of the talking, not Alec Baldwin who this time only listen... Beside this episode is sponsored by a car parts company...

I Loved the interview and the best part about it was that Mr. Osborne spoke about the Legend film stars in a way of personally knowing them because he did! It wasn't like reading about them in a book, it was someone who actually knew them & spoke about their actions.

Kudos to Mr. Osborne!

Excellent interview as are so many of the others. Especially enjoyed the one with Herb Alpert - learned many things I didn't know! Alec's interview style and resonating voice are a pleasure to listen to. Love this series.

Great show, Alec. Stumbled on it on iTunes, downloaded the Dick Cavett interview and was hooked! Working my way through all of them, and I just listened to the Robert Osborne interview. I love old film, so to hear his take on breaking into the biz in a bygone era was a real treat.

Of course, Alec Baldwin is wonderful. Many of us would listen to him reading even the back of a cereal box so a podcast is a real treat. Why then are these interviews leaving me feeling so cold? I can't quite put my finger on it but I think the lives of the guests aren't all that interesting. These happy go lucky biographies are often smug and ultimately dull. Maybe these conversations are interesting to people who really thrive on Hollywood and film and TV culture but I wish the range was broader and more fun.

LOVE the show, but the Robert Osbourne was, well, painful. An excruciating, self-absorbed hour of name dropping. You gotta learn to more your subject along and think about what interests the audience, or at least edit this better. I'm a TCM devotee, but I found myself bored with this.

Exceptional podcast this week. I didn't know that I would be so fascinated by Robert Osborne but he has amazing anecdotes. I particularly enjoyed hearing about Jane Darwell. Nicely done, Mr. Baldwin--keep it coming with these wonderful characters!

The Osborne interview was absolutely fascinating...an extremely interesting man with a great story. Mr. Baldwin is truly an asset to this type of programming; I hope he continues long into the future.

Alec, I like your show. Since the advent of the Olbermanns and O’Reillys, I had forgotten what a quality interviewer was like. But, to be honest, you hooked me by using “So What” as the theme song.

What an interesting life. Enjoyed his speaking about wanting to be an actor. And really interesting to hear about his meeting and knowing Lucielle Ball. I love TCM hosted by the very knowledgable and charming Mr. Osborne. I have learned so much about movies, stars, producers and much more. While watching The essentials, I became an Alec Baldwin fan. His comments on the selected movies and his wonderful analysis of his movie selections were very impressive. Please have Robert Osborne again.

I really enjoyed this interview and hope you are able to deliver on your offer to have him on again sometime. I have of course seen him introduce countless films over the years but I knew virtually nothing about him personally. I never would've guessed he had those early connections with Jane Darwell, Lucille Ball, Paul Henreid etc. He really did make it sound easy to get "signed" in Hollywood! He must've had a quality that they all recognized. The one bit of trivia I do know about him is that he owns the famous faux painting (it was actually a photograph with brush strokes added) of Gene Tierney that was so central to the plot of the classic noir "Laura". Maybe Alec can ask him about that the next time around.

sounds like a nice man,but i've got to be honest. this is the least interesting chat, to date. it's just a bit too much about gossip culture, and movie star infatuation. genteel,by todays standards,and yes i know, he does not dish dirt,yet it's still not that interesting. perhaps another interview sometime in the future,might do better. let's hope so.
