In January of 2006, musician-turned-manager John Levy was recognized for his unique place in the history of jazz music with a "Jazz Masters" award from the NEA. As Sara Fishko tells us, his contribution to the field is vast.

Film composer Leonard Rosenman died this past spring at age 83. He won Oscars for his adaptations of existing music for movies such as Barry Lyndon and Bound for Glory, but it was Rosenman’s original scores, says WNYC’s Sara Fishko, that are remembered for their arresting modernism.
