Friday, February 23, 2007

Portraits

Friday, February 02, 2007

As the New York culture scene for ’07 gets underway, some of last year’s exhibits are ending their runs. WNYC’s Sara Fishko says two of the more interesting ones, closing soon, use portraits to reveal something larger than the pictures themselves.

“Glitter and Doom, German Portraits from the 1920’s” is at the Metropolitan Museum through February 19th. A related talk by Sabine Rewald will be presented at the Museum at 3pm on Sunday, February 4th

“Jazz in New York, A Community of Visions,” features photographs by Lourdes Delgado. It can be seen through February 11th at the Brooklyn Public Library, Grand Army Plaza.

“Portraits” by Virgil Thomson is available on CD at Amazon.com
