Of all the photographs you could choose to honor Van Cliburn, the repeated WQXR choice of the one with Khruschev only reflects how young all of you are at the station.
In November 1956, this thug sent Russian tanks and troops into the streets of Budapest to murder over 2,500 civilian Hungarian demonstrators, no differently than the actions of Qadafy of Libya whom you condemn today. The West did nothing, the reign of terror that followed in Hungary had no equal anywhere in the Soviet empire, before or after.
