    Ear to Ear: Claire Chase

    Brooklyn based flautist Claire Chase has emerged as a gifted interpreter and performer of contemporary music, as well as an active entrepreneur of the experimental arts. Winner of the 2008 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Claire is the executive director and co founder of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), dedicated to presenting new works and expanding today's new music scene.

    Question for Claire: What criteria do you apply to select compositions to be performed at ICE concerts, i.e., what particular qualities do you look for?

    david garland you put on the air the most beautiful and inspiring music. i moved from west la to rural austria (no tel, no radio no music) when i was 27. now 38 years later through the world of internet i am being graced the sounds like wnyc. yeee : ) thank you. hearing claire chase tonight was wonderful.

69th American Music Festival: American Blend

May 21-22, at 7pm; May 23-24 at 8pm; May 25-27 at 7pm

Hosts Terrance McKnight and David Garland will curate and host a weeklong festival with special guests and rare recordings, concluding with live performances in WNYC's Jerome L. Greene Performance Space by Dafnis Prieto, Paola Prestini, Ezequiel Vinao and Yungchen Lhamo May 27.

Presented by Celebrate Brooklyn! and Wordless Music, and hosted by David Garland, the program features an ambitious re-imagining of Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, The Rite: Remixed.
