Since relocating to the United States some 8 years ago, Israeli-born guitarist/composer Eyal Maoz has ridden the crest of avant-guard jazz through several ensembles. His latest group is the quartet Edom, which combines jazz and middle-eastern sounds with a distinctive rock attitude.
An accomplished guitarist and composer, Eyal Maoz is the founder of Edom, Dimyon, Slavic Crazy Trio, and Lemon Juice Quartet. His groups have been featured at the Montreal Jazz Festival, NYC Jazzfest, the Brooklyn BAM next festival, the Verizon Jazz Festival, the Red Sea International Jazz Festival, the New York Jewish Music and Heritage Festival, Florida Music Harvest, and New York City's Jewzapalooza Festival. His latest CD is the self-titled debut from his new band, Edom, released on the Tzadik label.
