Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Live from Carnegie Hall

David Garland and Terrance McKnight return to Carnegie Hall to co-host the last Orpheus Chamber Orchestra concert of the season, an evening dedicated to celebrating great orchestrators from the 18th century to the present day. We'll hear music from Haydn, Stravinsky, Ravel and Ned Rorem, with new songs from Rorem performed by mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. Terrance will be live backstage to speak with Rorem, a composer Time magazine called "the world's best composer of art songs."

Ned Rorem joins Terrance McKnight to chat about the simple purity of the French sound, being moved as a young man by the voice of Billie Holiday and now setting music for mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, and how all musicians are, at heart, singers.

David Garland chats with the lively featured vocalist Susan Graham about the challenges of rehearsing with a conductor-less orchestra and getting to know Rorem's music as an overworked, 18-year old student in Lubbuck, Texas.
