We hear Thelonious Monk's “Crepuscule With Nellie,” a haunting solo piano melody the jazz great wrote for his ill wife. Also, Arvo Pärt’s highly emotional, biblically-inspired “Wallfahrtslied” (Pilgrim’s Song) and Ed Chang’s version of John Cage’s groundbreaking composition “Aria.”

Thanks for the Brahms/Marian Anderson; the segue from the last Brahms song to the B-flat Op 23 Prelude and then the D Major was brilliant. I don't know if this is Browning's order in recording Op 23, but it's not the chronological order. Hmmm--I thought you were going to play ALL of the Op. 23 (I was writing as the G Minor began and ended with your announcement),so I must indeed commend you on your selection.
