I would really love an entire podcast of the whole festival. Would this be possible in the future?

I was driving--on my way to a dinner party--when I heard the program. I was riveted by the music (of course), but also really appreciated Sport's personal perspective as we listened to excerpts together.

It felt very thoughtful and intimate, and I am so sorry when i arrived and had to shut off the engine, missing the remaining part of the program.

With respect to M Thorne's comment...

Radio is a real-time medium, and it's common that a presenter - dealing with all the various factors involved in a broadcast - might occasionally make a slip. Don't doubt for a moment David Garland's professionalism or affection for the music he presents.

As for the "chatter" - if there was any reason for my presence on the hour-long program, it was to give some personal perspective and (one hopes) interesting trivia about the making of this masterpiece. So, I tried; apologies for boring you.

Like you, I prefer to hear the work uninterrupted. That's why they sell cds, and I promise that your acquisition of the WSS disc will provide a lifetime of deep pleasure.

Very best regards.

I was a young boy in Ohio in 1960 when my working class parents went to the movie and bought the soundtrack recording.
I must have played that record hundreds of times and of course seen the movie multiple times over the years.
I'll never forget the impact of that full widescreen close-up on the knife in the rumble scene in the movie.
Sport Murphy is dead on. This thing still gives me chills. It made a very major impression on me. LB and SS gave me a major gift.
Thanks for tonight David.

ok, trying to stay as civil as possible, but when David Garland couldn't keep track of which West Side Story song had already been played tonight (Sat. after 8:30pm), it kind of felt like he's not really in the rapt attention that he claims to be in :) ... Apart from that, why keep talking about which WSS song(s) you may have to omit tonight... why not just cut down on the chatter and play them all? Just a suggestion!
