Like many modern composers, Canadian Ann Southam began her career by writing neo-romantic works, but later moved towards a lyrical sort of atonal minimalism. After several years exploring the field of electronic music, Southam went the way of acoustic instruments with evocative works like her "Rivers" series for piano, which we sample tonight.

Also Featured Tonight

Eric Ewazen / Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Violincello and Piano
Charles Mingus / Compositional Theme Story: Medleys, Anthems and Folklore

I loved the music that was played between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Friday evening. Sounded like movie music. It was very soothing. Is it possible to get the playlist of songs played in that hour? Thanks.

Why don't you guys just list a playlist listing all the music and when it played? That would answer 90% of the issues posted here. Why can't you just do that?

I listened to Ann Southam's "Rivers" selection while waiting at the station for my wife's train from NYC to come in. Awesome original piano music! I would like to buy the CD set now!

Parade -- the French pronunciation -- premiered in 1917 in Paris, drew inspiration from the Futurists and was pretty radical. While Diaghilev commissioned the ballet for his Ballets Russes, he was not the choreographer. The choreographer was Leonid Massine.
