Iva Bittová

Saturday, January 05, 2008

Called "the first lady of the Czech alternative scene," Iva Bittová combines rock and jazz with Eastern European influences to create what she calls her "own personal folk music." Bittová's talents are well-represented on disc, including her collaboration with the Bang on a Can All Stars in the album Elida. A noted actress, Bittová recently made a comeback to the screen in the Czech film "Tajnosti"; her vocal skills are on display in the recent ECM release "Mater," with music by Slovakian composer Vladimir Godár.

Thanks so much, David, for introducing me to Iva Bittova and her work. She is amazing - and so is your program.
I especially liked her singing in "Mater."

My family enjoyed this program quite alot. The talent displayed was impressive, and the music was (for me, for the most part) beautifully ethereal.

This program was a joyful revelation to me. My musical tastes run to traditional folk music with an occasional touch of baroque classical. Immensely enjoyed Iva Bittova's music and appreciate your making that possible.
