As the only piano trio ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Claremont Trio has jumped to the forefront of young dynamic ensembles on the classical music scene. We sample a track from their recent release, "American Trios." Also, Margaret Leng Tan brings her pianistic skills to John Cage's music in "Jazz Study," and we enjoy a "Bacchanale," Russian-style, from composer Dmitri Shostakovich.

I've really enjoyed the evening programming lately, in particular the spirituals and choral music that segue so nicely into J, Schaffers New Sounds which I listen to regularly.
Gets me the right place.
Also that Little Ember piece. (Gia Concelli?) Very haunting.

I tuned in late and don't know what's playing. This is frustrating. Isn't there someway to have a "now playing" like the one for WNYC2?
Terrance - I was just scratching my head: Souzay? Wunderlich? who was singing this strange medley? ... Thanks a lot for playing Samuel Barber the singer, very emotive with the 30s tremolo, truly a neo-romantic revelation. Wonderful choice!
