Sunday, August 12, 2007

Ray Lema was born on a train in Zaire during the 1940s — and hasn't stopped moving since. As composer, pianist, guitarist, and songwriter, Lema straddles the gulf between jazz and classical to occupy a unique place in the realm of world music.

Dream of the Gazelle

Tonight we feature the title work from Lema's 1998 album Dream of the Gazelle. A symphonic suite inspired by the natural vistas of Lema's homeland, Dream of the Gazelle was recorded in Sweden and features the Sundsvall Chamber orchestra under Jan Risberg.
