  Human Rights Watch is the same organization that sent a Nazi memorabilia enthusiast to Israel to be a “fair” reporter on events. Human Rights Watch makes itself irrelevant because of its clear anti-Israel agenda.

  It feels odd to be discussing human rights violations in Russia and Ethiopia when Syed Hashmi sits in solitary confinement in the Manhattan Correctional Center awaiting trial by a kangaroo court under conditions that make a total mockery of "due process".

  America should first clean up its own act. Then reduce or eliminate aid to countries with egregious violations.

  The Russian people have had three revolutions in one hundred years and they were the ones to destroy the Nazis. If they want to, let THEM solve their own human rights problems. They do not need and there should not be American interference.

  I was going to say something similar. These activists are amazing and so brave, (I've read about Elena), but HRW is so awful and unfair to Israel.

  Elena Milashina is a very brave woman to to this kind of work at the current time in Russia. The investigative journalism work of Novaya Gazeta is followed here in Europe and the string of journalist kilings has received some attention, but not enough.   Dear Daniel, dear Elena,

  congratulations to your award! I do not share the belief that Human Right Watch is irrelevant because it honors and cares for people like you. No skandal can play down Daniel's and Elena's achievements.

  As expat who grew up in the Soviet Union I follow the political change in Russia with serious worries. I admire Elena for being so brave.
