  My husband did this...on his/our own dime. He used his vacation time to follow Obama around the country (Maine, Vermont, Ohio, Idaho, Nevada and so many more I can't even remember) volunteering and even running a caucus in Idaho. Months and months even before the election he would drag me out canvassing on the subways with handmade literature. It was a wonderful inspiring experience.

  What is the big deal of making someone work some lousy repetitive job? Why not have the SEIU workers spend a day as a financial analyst, doctor, lawyer, UN translator? What would it prove?

  The problem is that people who got excited by Obama and I voted for him, do not keep up their efforts, or lose interest if things don't go their way.

  Who is a "working family?" Is it someone that went to business school or law school at night while working a full-time job who makes 150-225K working an 80 hour work week and has his own bills etc?

  Or is some person who barely made it out of high school because he/she was probably and puts in an 8 hour a day at job that a monkey can do?

  One of the guests mentioned Bloomberg's work to help people in poverty, early this year didn't Mayor Bloomberg attempt to charge the working homeless a fee to live in housing for the homeless? It was legal to do so but it seemed harsh.

  Unions represent what only 8% of the workforce and they used to represent over 25%. Unions have become special interest groups, nothing more nothing less. They don’t represent you, me or their own members. They only represent and care about their political power and care about political power for the union leaders. They have become no less corrupt then the political powers they claim to fight against.

  The way that Mike Bloomberg hooked his wagon to the Republican Party and the 2004 Republican Convention that he hosted in NYC were both pretty much deplorable.

  That said overall I think that Mike has done a pretty good job. Mayor Bloomberg will be getting my vote this coming Tuesday.
