  Camp Bisco has been a sucess. It has been in upstate NY for the last three yrs. But I agree that festivals in the NYC metro area are difficult.

  I was at APW on Saturday. My fiance and I had a great time except for the manure smell accompanying the mud.

  We were also there last year, which was also great, and were not going to go again for fear of hexavalent chromium contamination. We only attended this weekend because we were given last minute free passes. Despite the summer heat, we wore long pants and heavy boots, again for fear of toxic waste.

  What about CMJ? It plays to the strengths of NYC by putting everything indoors at the city's venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn, packs loads of good music into a week, and offers both all-in passes and tickets for individual shows.

  We should make sure to give props to Phish for popularizing and basically figuring out what is necessary to put on an awesome music festival in the modern age (their 1996 festival the Clifford Ball got everything underway).

  There totally needs to be a giant festival on Governor's Island! It would be great, and bring a ton of money to the city!

  Does this festival jinx only apply to rock oriented events? Wasn't there just a Jazz festival in Manhattan split between many venues? Likewise I see there is a dance music festival on Randall's Island next month.

  Besides half the bands at those Texas rock festivals are all from Brooklyn anyways...

  At least three times during this segment, you stated, "Liberty State Park in New Jersey." New Yorkers need to be occasionally reminded that NJ is not a monolithic entity. You are ordinarily very precise in your choice of words. Why not "Liberty State Park in Jersey City"?

  Whoa, blast from the past: I was at that Radiohead concert at Liberty State Park in August 2001...not only could I see the Twin Towers across the water, but the PATH train took me straight from Jersey City to the WTC--it was the last time I was there (2 weeks later was 9/11).

  All Points West was great, and I was very happy I went, but there are a few small things that the organizers could do to make it a little better:

  More water fountains/sellers

  More Trash receptacles.

  Less expensive beer- its robbery to charge $9 for a small cup of beer. Who do you think you are?

  Better communication to crowds when delays are in effect. The worst thing you can do is keep a crowd penned in with no water or food available and not communicate with them-this occurred on sunday. If you communicate with a crowd it prevents people becoming irate, and creates more understanding.

  However-kudos to the organizers for validating fridays ticket holders for an additional day. It was a wet day.

  Oh and Coldplay sadly ruined a Beastie Boys cover!
