Why is their no Latino commentators and guests discussing this monumental and historical nomination of Sonia Sotomayor ?
Many White people believe they are more qualified to discuss everything about people of color, than people of color are, of them selves.
Senator Jeff Sessions said it all: Judge Sotomayor has lots of experience and a great story, but she has repeatedly stated her bias and prejudice and therefore should be disqualified.
This includes her specific comments on judicial activism and legislating from the bench. Those comments are outside the bounds of propriety and violate the essential concept of separation of powers. Based on those comments alone, she is absolutely unqualified to be on the US Supreme Court.
Based on her repeated racial and gender prejudice statements I would, as an attorney (including being a Member of US Supreme Court Bar) move to have her remove herself from hearing a trial if my client was Male and/or of European background and would file an objection if she did not.

should "Justices Samuel Alito and Antonin Scalia, both of whom cited at their confirmation hearings their backgrounds as Italian Americans as evidence they understand discrimination and the immigrant experience. time 07/13/2009 " be removed because they are bias and prejudice?
Jeff Sessions, has called black men "boy", called the civil rights organization NAACP a "communist organization",
and told a black man that "He should be careful how he speaks to white people"
So egregious was his behavior that he himself was denied appointment to a judicial court!
Continued- Rachel Maddow, has a great piece on the racist history of Senator Jeff Sessions.

Sessions was heard by several colleagues commenting that he "used to think they [the Klan] were OK" until he found out some of them were "pot smokers."

She has made racial and gender biased comments over the course of two decades. Just a little different from referencing her background at a hearing as did the sitting Justices.
We need objective people. She's not one of them.
Calls'em
which of the GOP nominees were objective?
i wonder if anyone who BHO nominated would pass your tests? guess what the people elected a president and a congress and u have to live with that. sorry, better luck next time.
ps hope palin will get the nomination.
As senator Schumer has eleiquently indicated Sonia Sotomayor has been more consistent and objective through out her 17 year judicial career, In contrast to that of Chief Justice John G. Roberts, who has not been objective and brought his own views, and in doing so has been active in overturning judicial presidence !
As always liberals only believe in free speech for liberals. Liberals can spew all sorts of racist, sexist and religious diatribes but others must be silent. It’s all part of the new liberal fascism. I don't know everything about Jeff Sessions' background, but then again he isn't the current racist and sexist nominee to the Supreme Court. Liberals are also good at tolerating corruption, crooks and murderers as long as they vote for liberal special interests.

If you are quoting people like Jeff Sessions, and as you have admitted knowing nothing of his background,
It is obviouse that you no nothing about the Justice Sonia Sotomayor!
You are just repeating the echo chamber that comes from the right wing media, here's a an idea try thinking for your self, and shut off Rush for a moment!
Calls'em
"Liberals can spew all sorts of racist, sexist and religious diatribes " please explain. please quote Sotomayor in this context. i was not denying your free speech but please don't be so vague
Hector (Carmen & hjs)
Just like most liberals, you make things up as you go along. This is ok for regular people like you, but not for lawyers and judges. Words have meaning. And repeated use of words in sentences as Sonia’s repeated comments of a racial and sexist nature have meaning, too. Please reread or have the person who is reading to you, read my comments again to you. The words, “I don’t know everything” does not mean “know[s] nothing.” I know well the hatchet job the Dems did on the US Attorney Sessions many years ago. I was a liberal then and even worked on a book put together to block Judge Bork. I have since seen the error of my ways.
I also don’t know if the allegations posted against him are true. Liberals make stuff up. It is part of the liberal Nazi concept of “Big Lie” wherein you state a lie and repeat it often and loudly enough that stupid people begin to believe it. Liberals and the liberal media and education lobby have been using this model to forward their own special interests for decades to the detriment of mainstream America.
PS -- I would rather be endorsed by the Devil then by Lil’Chucky Schumer. You can tell when he’s lying because his lips are moving. He is a fake, phony and a fraud. He is a total captive of big business (NY Times - Schumer is Wall Street 12-14-08) and has done little to help the working people of New York. He and Hillary failed NY in getting money for He is one of the most personally hated members of Congress and that’s an opinion held by both Dems and Republicans.
A historical note:
If confirmed, Judge Sotomayor will be the second (2nd) person of Hispanic background to sit on the court, not the first. The first (1st) Hispanic on the US Supreme was Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo, who was confirmed on 2-24-1932 after being appointed by President Herbert Hoover (a conservative Republican) to replace one of the great legal scholars of all time, Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes.

"And repeated use of words in sentences as Sonia’s repeated comments of a racial and sexist nature have meaning"
again one quote from Sotomayor so i know what u are refering to.
also please stick to the facts.
don't make this personal. u don't know how "liberal" i am. please let me know what u think i've "made up"
hjs
Sotomayor has made similar racist and sexist comments at least 5 times on the record and who knows how many 100s times off the record to people or groups where she knew she was "safe."
After having read many of your posts, you seem to be very liberal. Tell me I'm wrong.
Calls'em
yet u cann't find just one quote from Sotomayor to quote
Cobertura en vivo:

In response to critical questions and comments about her judicial temperament, Judge Sotomayor might well have promised that, if confirmed, she would respectfully consider any advice Justice Scalia's might offer on the subject.
