Why should we have gay marriage but not polygamy?
Let the Senate vote!!
EIther way it turns out, let's know the names andhow they voted. It will help us innext year's election.
I heard an assemblyman who is an Orthodox Jew state that there were limits in his faith he could not cross. I totally respect that. But one of the limits of being an American is he cannot by law impose the teachings of his religion on me without a politcal argument. I believe that people should be in church on Sunday, but I would never want that made the law of the land. The current situation favors some religions over others. If a person's faith does not allow gay marriage, then do not get married to a same sex partner. But your faith should not dictate mine by law. Thanks you.
If this "issue" were cast as a purely Constitutional rights matter or a "state vs. church" matter then I would care.
Thank Gawd I'm not in charge, listening to this topic being debated hurts my head. I believe that Gay marriage like other sexual preferences along with Religion and Politics belong in the privacy of one's own bathroom and not fit discussion for polite society. (j/k)
How will "MARRIAGE" change the life of a gay person? Is it so people with this particular predilection will feel better about themselves? Does it make a man or a woman happy they can adopt children into an environment that is not normal and does not have the balance provided by the parenting of a good man and woman? Even in the short time some of my lesbian neighbors have raised their daughters, the malefaction is evident in their child's social development and physical fitness. Unfortunately those who endorse these pernicious activities usually deny the truth as well.
What is Citigroup doing to prove that they are reforming their risk management policy which failed them when they chose so many poor investments. I no longer trust them with my money. Thank you.
That children of gay parents are somehow "less" well cared for has NO basis in fact. The listeners assetion is a "red herring." Could the "malefaction" be the result of intolerance in the neighborhood? And she wants to know how "marriage" will change a gay person's life? How did it change yours (if you're married)? Sorry your comment is a non sequitur. I also agree that religion has no place in this debate. This is strictly a civil issue of equal treatment under the law.
Mr. Parsons was not truthful about Citi's use of talented New Yorkers.
Citi located its mortgage unit in Dallas. Poorly paid, poorly educated data entry workers, who frequently are contract employees not receiving employee benefits perform the purported comprehensive risk analysis to qualify loans for the banks. This is made possible by the use of automated underwriting systems ie computerized decision-making. These systems are used by all originators including the FHA, Fannie, and Freddie.
Such practices and other forms of outsourcing are employed by all firms. The use of similar empoyment practices is also true for due diligence audit firms. In addition due diligence auditors no longer work onsite reviewing original documents. They work from remote locations using imaged files. Audtors can even be paid by the file now for therir reviews. To make a living, poorly-educated, barely trained workers perform their "analyses" as rapidly as possible.
The reason for all of this is to put cost savings into investment bankers bonuses. It happned during the bubble; it is happening now with even greater labor savings ideas being generated by those protected their bonuses.
There is absolutely a basis in fact and to deny it only speaks to my other assertion that people with this agenda don't care about the facts. There is enough data available now, since the advent of the "Me" generation, about "alternative family" structures such as divorce and single parenting, to easily demonstrate that children in those arraignments don't have "normal" relationships as adults; but then, it is all about redefining "normal" for you, isn't it? Speaking of red herrings, with regard to my neighborhood, we are so gay friendly here in Maplewood, a girl was suspended from my son's 5th grade class for calling something "gay". So much for tolerance.
PS. I think you mean my questions were rhetorical.
Sorry for a hasty post. I was trying to make the show.
Mr. Parsons was not truthful about Citi’s use of talented New Yorkers. Citi located its mortgage unit in Dallas. Poorly paid, poorly educated data entry workers, who frequently are contract employees not receiving employee benefits, perform the purported comprehensive risk assessments used to qualify loans. This is made possible by the use of automated ie computerized underwriting systems used by all originators. Systems may be proprietary or supplied by FHA, Fannie, and Freddie.
Such practices and other forms of outsourcing are used for labor cost saving by all Wall Street firms. The use of similar practices also is true for due diligence audit firms. In addition due diligence auditors no longer work onsite reviewing original documents., which entails expensive travel costs. They now work from remote locations using imaged files. These “auditors” may be paid by the file now for their reviews. To make a living, these barely trained workers perform their "analyses" as rapidly as possible. They do not understand the documents they review or the concepts behind them. They labor with a production quota whip over their heads and ongoing verbal abuse and threats of job loss. Texas and Florida are the most common locations for both centralized mortgage underwriting and due diligence auditing. Place people who do not know what they are doing at computer terminals. Worked for Bernie Madoff, and it works for mortgage loan purchase and securitization.
Significant cost savings cost savings swell investment bankers bonuses. It happened during the bubble; it is happening now. At each leg of government bailout, new and greater labor savings ideas are generated by those buoying their bonuses.
[It's still legal - and always God-honoring - to air messages like the following. (See Ezekiel 3:18-19.) In light of government backing of raunchy behavior (such offenders were even executed in early America!), maybe the separation we really need is the "separation of raunch and state"!]
In Luke 17 in the New Testament, Jesus said that one of the big "signs" that will happen shortly before His return to earth as Judge will be a repeat of the "days of Lot" (see Genesis 19 for details). So gays are actually helping to fulfill this same worldwide "sign" (and making the Bible even more believable!) and thus hurrying up the return of the Judge! They are accomplishing what many preachers haven't accomplished! Gays couldn't have accomplished this by just coming out of closets into bedrooms. Instead, they invented new architecture - you know, closets opening on to Main Streets where little kids would be able to watch naked men having sex with each other at festivals in places like San Francisco (where their underground saint - San Andreas - may soon get a big jolt out of what's going on over his head!). Thanks, gays, for figuring out how to bring back our resurrected Saviour even quicker!
