It was making headlines from the very start of 2008, with stock market plunges in January and February - then considered leftovers from the subprime mortgage crisis - that wound up being symptoms of a recession.     Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. WNYC, if this it the case, I doubt very much that your listeners would choose this if given any choice in the matter.

    I love WNYC, but it needs to do some careful self-reflection on whether it is practicing what it preaches.

    Nick, I didn't know it until last spring, when another poster shared the information. It then became clear to me why I was receiving several donation requests from non-profits through the mail. The charities are worthy, but I think WNYC should offer an opt-out for its donors. I usually donate in the spring, but I'm not certain I'll donate if an opt-out isn't in place.
